Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail Tires Review

_DSF1589.jpg

When Falken reached out to me and asked if I wanted to try their new Wildpeaks, I jumped at the opportunity.

I had been running the older Wildpeak AT3W’s for about a year and while those tires are totally rad and beefy, they aren’t really made for small to midsize SUV’s. Falken noticed there was huge surge of new rigs entering the offroad market, but these things weren’t trucks, we’re talking about Subaru Crosstreks, Toyota Rav4’s or in my case, the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Everyone was swapping out their stocks with massive AT tires rated for larger vehicles, and people were seeing their MPGs and ride handling deteriorate in the process.

This is why Falken developed the A/T Trail. It’s a lightweight tire that won’t bog down your rig, increased the warranty to 65k, and comes with a lot of the great features the AT3W’s have, minus that real aggressive sidewall.

I’ve tested these on slushy slow, icy conditions, loose sand, mountain trails and desert roads. These tires are truly excellent and capable on all surfaces. They are also snow-peak rated, and I’ve driven them confidently up snowy mountain roads without issue. On-road they are virtually silent compared to my old Wildpeaks which had a slight hum to them on the highway.

As I mentioned before, you are losing the more aggressive sidewall so I wouldn’t go rock-crawling in a set of these, but they’re great on almost everything else. These are probably the best all-around offroad tires I’ve ever owned, and I’m leaving them on permanently.

Note: Falken Tires did give me these tires for free to test, but the opinions posted here are my own and they did not pay me (or ask for that matter) for this post.
